CCS Alumni posed for a photo together with other student presenters under the ICT during the ALCU R3 Research Colloquium

CCS Alumni of Batch 2018 presented their Thesis and Capstone projects in the 1st Student Research Colloquium organized by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Region III – Research Council held last November 28, 2018 at City College of Angeles, Angeles City.

With the theme, “Strengthening a Culture of Research Through Students’ Empowerment in the 21st Century”, the event aims to imbibe to students the importance and benefits of engaging oneself to research. The event started with the remarks from Dr. Filipinas Bognot, President of ALCU R3-Research Council and was followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Efren Abulencia, Education Supervisor II of CHED Region 3. The highlight of the morning session was a talk of Dr. Soledad Mina-Roguel, Dean of Institute of Education from Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges that focused on the ways on how to be creative and innovative in doing research works.

In the afternoon session, seven (7) parallel sessions under different disciplines (Education, Food Technology, Business, Hospitality, Nursing, Midwifery and ICT) were conducted. Gordon College students from difference colleges presented their research projects to participating students and faculty members of ALCU R3 member schools as their audience.

Under ICT, student research projects developed by our CCS alumni were presented. These projects are:

“Send Me to School: A Scholarship Selection and Vetting Mobile Web Application for Tertiary Students Using String Matching Algorithm” with their authors; Mr. Ron Angelo Batac; Ms. Kris Azucenas; Ms. Marla Kathleen Garduque; and Mr. Arnie Armada as their project adviser.

“A Project Management and Warehouse Inventory System for Ocean Gecko Using Progressive Web Frameworks” with their authors: Ms. Wilinda Dedase; Mr. Jan Renzo Baranda; and Mr. Melner Balce as their project adviser.

During the closing program, Dr. Ediric Gadia, VP for Research and Extension of Gordon College, congratulated all the organizing committee members and participants of the event and announced that the 2nd Student Research Colloquium will be hosted by Gordon College.
